Bubblegum Crisis Universe News

4/15/00 - It's been a while but the news has been rather scarce recently, and with AIC removing the English part of their webpage, getting info is even harder. Other than some episode info., nothing new has come out so far.  I found a page that has specific episode info, but it's not complete. If you're interested, then click here. I will be updating shortly with the second tape with episodes 4 - 6 within a week or so.

2/17/00 - Well the first tape had three episodes, not two as reported. Now for the ep's, the hardsuits so far look like the similar to those in "Scoop Chase", but we've only seen two so far, Nene's and Priss's. The story is good so far, but there are a lot of pregnant pauses between the characters, things that are just left unsaid and unexplained. Nigel, a new character who runs what used to be Raven's Garage, is a total mystery so far. Sylia in this series hates GENOM bitterly, is filthy rich (makes Bill Gates look poor), but won't act directly with the Knight Sabers. Nene's character is a lot more interesting, she's still young but has more personality and will than the old. Linna and Priss, well you just have to see them to understand. Ah yes, Leon is back, however he hates the Knight Sabers as much as Sylia hates GENOM and the ADP is still the backwards stepchild of the police force, with little respect for what they do. And now to the Villains; Quincy and Mason return. Mason is the Exec. Vice-President and is plotting to replace Quincy, and Quincy looks less impressive and menacing than the original, however that may have to do with his being hooked up to this huge machine that's keeping him alive. And while GENOM is still powerful, you don't get the impression they are this world power anymore. Well that's it for now.

10/24/99 - There's not a lot of news on the BGC: 2040 series, the first three tapes are out in Japan in DVD and VHS. They have also put out three soundtracks and an album by Akira Sudou, the woman who is doing the song vocals for Priss and a Priss album soundtrack as well.

The news is that on the official homepage, the series is now up to episode 22. The next six episodes I have translated (The homepage is in Kanji and my Japanese is a little rusty from non-use, so please bear with me.) Episode 7 & 8 are - "Look at Yourself" & "Fireball". Episodes 9 & 10 are - "My Nation Underground" & "Woke up with A Monster" and Episodes 11 & 12 are - "Sheer Heart Attack" & "Made in Japan". I'll have the last ten episode names by this Friday on the page. I did stumble across a review of the first six episodes, but the page disappeared on me. If anyone finds it, let me know so I can put the information up on my page.

Well it's official, ADVision has picked up the rights to the New Bubblegum Crisis Series and will be putting out the videos as soon as they get them. The new series will have 26 episodes, 24 episodes and 2 OVA's. The new series will be taking place in the year 2040 and Priss, Nene, Sylia & Linna all got new looks, Priss's band looks pretty good thought. If you want to see the page with the new looks and a timeline of events go to Megalo City Network, it's a limited page put out by a former employee of AIC who has connections to the new series.
